China Open hits a public relations winner

Beijing, 28 April 2004 - Two Up Front today announced it has entered into an agreement to handle international public relations for the inaugural China Open tennis tournament. The announcement adds another prestigious sports event to Two Up Front’s rapidly expanding portfolio, and cements the company’s reputation as a dynamic and innovative market leader.

Under the terms of the agreement with the China Open’s promoters, Media Serv Asia Pacific Limited, Two Up Front will be responsible for issuing all English and traditional Chinese news releases and event-related feature stories to media outside mainland China. The company will also orchestrate and implement a media publicity campaign devised to give the tournament maximum worldwide exposure.

Welcoming the announcement, Two Up Front’s editorial director, Niall Donnelly, said: “We are delighted to be playing a key role in the first ever China Open. The advent of the tournament is one of the most significant developments in tennis for decades and a major boost for sport in China in the build-up to the Beijing Olympics.”

The China Open will be held from September 10-26 at the state-of-the-art Beijing Tennis Centre and is organised under the leadership of China’s Ministry of Sport and the Beijing Municipal Government. The China Open aims to become one of the world’s top five tennis tournaments, Asia’s premier sports event and the leading event in China’s preparations for the 2008 Olympics.
