Hong Kong, 5 September 2005 - Sports PR specialists Two Up Front will handle public relations for the 2005 UBS Hong Kong Open, one of Asia’s most storied and prestigious golf tournaments.

It is the second year running that Two Up Front has been entrusted with the task of keeping the world’s media fully up-to-date on the event.

Under the agreement reached with event promoter Parallel Media Asia, Two Up Front will handle worldwide public relations before, during and immediately after the December 1-4 tournament at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, a role which will include running the on-site media centre and producing daily news releases.

Two Up Front will also design and publish the official souvenir programme and produce a daily newsletter that will be given to fans attending the final two rounds.

“We’re very happy to be returning to the tournament and to be even more heavily involved this time around,” said Two Up Front editorial director Niall Donnelly. “Last year, we achieved a significant level of media coverage despite being brought on board just three weeks before the event. This year. we have much more time to plan and execute a comprehensive media campaign - we’re expecting very good results.”

The 2005 UBS Hong Kong Open marks the first year of a four-year title sponsorship agreement between the event organisers and UBS, a deal which will see prize money increase from US$800,000 last year to US$2.5 million in 2008.

Added Donnelly: “Naturally, UBS’s involvement made the PR contract an even hotter commodity than in previous years and we are delighted the event promoter has decided to retain our services.

“The overriding theme of this year’s Hong Kong Open is that, with UBS coming on board, the event will be bigger and better than ever before. We are fully confident that the public relations, souvenir programme and fans’ newsletter will reflect this improvement.”
