KOREAN GOLF EVENT THE PERFECT BLEND Hong Kong, March 18, 2008 - The Two Up Front success story has expanded to Korea, where the sports PR and publishing company made a huge contribution to the country’s first European Tour golf tournament. The €2 million (US$2.9 million) Ballantine’s Championship was a triumph on all levels with a world class field, an outstanding venue, a fantastic finish and phenomenal interest from the public and media. Hong Kong-based Two Up Front handled worldwide PR for the tournament, held at Pinx Golf Club on the picturesque island of Jeju from March 13-16. The company worked closely with its partners in Korea to ensure the tournament – co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours and Korea PGA – made a huge impact in its inaugural year. In addition, Two Up Front staffed and ran the on-site media centre for the duration of tournament week, hosting 165 domestic and overseas journalists and photographers. “The number of media attending the Ballantine’s Championship was outstanding,” said Two Up Front editorial director Niall Donnelly. “We like to think it was a reflection of our carefully planned PR campaign, our excellent press contacts and our media management expertise. “The tournament made headlines throughout Korea and around the world and, if this first year is an indicator, it looks set to go from strength to strength.” Large galleries saw Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell win the Ballantine’s Championship in a thrilling playoff against India’s Jeev Milkha Singh. The field also included world No.5 and Korean sporting icon KJ Choi, British Open champion Padraig Harrington and leading American duo Chris DiMarco and Anthony Kim.
