TUF TEES UP SUCCESSFUL UBS HONG KONG OPEN Hong Kong, December 9, 2005 - Colin Montgomerie carried off the trophy and Two Up Front carried off the plaudits after a memorable UBS Hong Kong Open golf tournament. TUF, Asia’s fastest-growing sports publishing and PR firm, played a key role in ensuring the December 1-4 event at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling was a huge success. The company handled PR and media accreditation, resulting in 122 journalists and photographers attending – the highest press turnout in the event’s 47-year history. TUF also staffed the on-site media centre – praised by seasoned golf journalists as one of the best to be found anywhere on the European or Asian Tours – and produced a daily newsletter which was given to fans attending the final two rounds. In addition, TUF’s 90-page official souvenir programme, which included 28 pages devoted to a lavish hole-by-hole guide, drew rave reviews. TUF was given a clear brief when it was awarded the PR and souvenir programme contract by event promoter Parallel Media Asia. “This was the first year of UBS’s long-term title sponsorship deal and there was general agreement that the Hong Kong Open had to be taken to the next level,” said TUF editorial director Niall Donnelly. “With that as our reference point, we set out to ensure the tournament would attract more media attendance and greater press coverage than ever before and that the media centre would meet new standards in terms of facilities and staffing. “We also set out to produce what would be unequivocally regarded as the best souvenir programme in the tournament’s history. “Judging from the feedback we have received, we succeeded on all fronts.” The UBS Hong Kong Open contract added to TUF’s impressive list of PR clients and continued an outstanding year for the Hong Kong-based company. In 2005 alone TUF handled PR on behalf of the Hong Kong Tens rugby tournament; Hong Kong’s official Le Mans motor racing team, Noble Group-GruppeM Racing; and TOM Group Limited, co-organiser of the China Open tennis tournament in Beijing. In addition, the company published the official souvenir programme and pocket guide for the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Looking forward, there will be little rest for TUF staff over Christmas and New Year. The company is handling PR for the Royal Trophy, the new Asia versus Europe team tournament that will be held in Bangkok on January 7-8, 2006. FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: info@tuf.com.hk |
