BACK IN THE SWING AT FANLING Hong Kong, September 5, 2005 - Two Up Front has left its rivals bunkered after landing the contract to handle public relations for the 2005 UBS Hong Kong Open, one of Asia’s most storied and prestigious golf tournaments. It is the second year running that TUF has been entrusted with the task of keeping the world’s media fully up to date on the event – a clear indicator that tournament officials were pleased with the company’s performance in 2004. Under the agreement reached with event promoter Parallel Media Asia, TUF will handle worldwide public relations before, during and immediately after the December 1-4 tournament at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, a role which will include staffing the on-site media centre and producing daily news releases. TUF will also design and publish the official souvenir programme and produce a daily newsletter that will be given to fans attending the final two rounds. “We’re very happy to be returning to the tournament and to be even more heavily involved this time,” said TUF editorial director Niall Donnelly. “Last year, we achieved a significant level of media coverage despite being brought on board just three weeks before the event. This year. we have much more time to plan and execute a comprehensive media campaign – we’re expecting very good results.” The UBS Hong Kong Open contract adds to TUF’s impressive list of PR clients and continues an outstanding year for the Hong Kong-based company. In 2005 alone TUF has handled PR on behalf of the Hong Kong Tens rugby tournament; Hong Kong’s official Le Mans motor racing team, Noble Group-GruppeM Racing; and TOM Group Limited, co-organiser of the China Open tennis tournament in Beijing. In addition, the company published the official souvenir programme and pocket guide for the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens. The staging of the 2005 UBS Hong Kong Open marks the first year of a four-year title sponsorship agreement between event organisers and UBS, a deal which will see prize money increase from US$800,000 last year to US$2.5 million in 2008. Added Donnelly: “Naturally, UBS’s involvement made the PR contract an even hotter commodity than in previous years and we are delighted the event promoter has decided to retain our services. “The overriding theme of this year’s Hong Kong Open is that, with UBS coming on board, the event will be bigger, bolder and better than ever before. We are fully confident that the public relations, souvenir programme and fans’ newsletter will reflect this improvement.” FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: info@tuf.com.hk |
